We just got our first look at Fantasmic! which is coming back to Disneyland this week after the dragon caught fire last year and there are some noticeable changes.
Fantasmic is returning to Disneyland on Friday, May 24th. There will be 2 shows that night: one at 9 PM and another at 10:30 PM.
The first big change to Fantasmic is is that the Peter Pan scene is coming back instead of the Pirates of the Caribbean scene on the Columbia ship.
But the biggest change is that we are not going to have a dragon in the show anymore. Sadly, the 45-foot, fire-breathing dragon that did catch fire in 2023 is not coming back and they haven’t built a new one either. Maleficent will still be onstage and even longer than before in the final battle scene, but not as a physical dragon.
Here are some tips if you’re going to watch it when it comes back. The first few nights will probably be very busy, so be prepared to get to your viewing spot hours early. When the show returned to Walt Disney World after the pandemic closure, the line reached the park entrance and lots of people were turned away.
If you don’t want to deal with that, a dining package may be your best bet.
There are 3 restaurants participating: Blue Bayou Restaurant, River Belle Terrace, and Rancho del Zocalo. Out of these, only one package will let you watch the show as you have dinner and that’s the Premium dining package at The River Belle Terrace with their outdoor seating. That one will cost 89 dollars per adult and 45 dollars per child for a three course meal and the special view for the show. The River Belle Terrace also has a standard dining package that will let you eat there and leave with a ticket that will get you into a reserved spot in front of the Rivers of America where you can see the show. And that same ticket is what you’ll get if you choose to dine at the Blue Bayou Restaurant or Rancho del Zocalo. But the Blue Bayou has a standard and premium package and the Rancho only has a standard package.
