Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Closed Thursday Due To Hurricane Helene

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon closed at Walt Disney World due to Hurricane Helene.

Walt Disney World announced Wednesday that Typhoon Lagoon will be closed on Thursday, September 26, 2024 as the theme park awaits potential bad weather from Hurricane Helene.

Disney also says Beachcomber Shack (cabanas) and umbrella rentals have also been cancelled for the day.

Hurricane Helene is not expected to make landfall near the Orlando area, but it is possible it will still bring strong wind and rain to the area.

Outdoor operations at theme parks are the first to be cancelled due to lightning or during other bad weather. Most of the rides, entertainment, and activities at Typhoon Lagoon are outdoors. For this reason, it is no surprise that Walt Disney World has decided to close Typhoon Lagoon for the day instead of having guests in a park with very little to do.

The Walt Disney World calendar still shows Typhoon Lagoon opening from 10 AM to 5 PM on Friday, September 27, 2024.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park has been closed for maintenance since March 2024 and is scheduled to reopen on November 4, 2024.
