We’re halfway done with the Halloween Horror Nights announcements! House 5 out of 10 is Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America.
Here’s the official description: With La Muerte as your guide, you’ll be begging for piedad from these three terrifying legends: Tlahuelpuchi, La Lechuza and El Silbón.
This house is actually from Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood back in 2023.
Let’s go over the legends of these monsters real quick.
Tlahuelpuchi is a Mexican story of a shape-shifting vampire-like woman who preys on babies.
La Lechuza is also a Mexican stary of a half-owl half woman that can swoop down and steal you away if you’re out too late.
And the story of El Silbon has been told in parts of Venezuela and he’s a man who offed his father and is now cursed to carry his father’s bones in a sack for all eternity, whistling as he gets near to you.
Like many legends, Latin American monsters are created to explain the unexplainable.
For example, “Tlahuelpuchi” was listed as the cause of death for many premature infants from a region of Mexico in the 1950s.
And like many scary stories we tell in the dark, they’re also a way to keep kids in check.
Here’s the full list of all the houses announced so far: Slaughterhouse Sinema 2, Goblin’s Feast, Major Sweets Candy Factory, The Museum: Deadly Exhibits, and Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America.
We’re halfway there, but still don’t know who our host is or the theme — and no announcements yet for Universal Studios Hollywood.
Halloween Horror Nights 33 returns to Universal Studios Florida at Universal Orlando Resort with its 10 haunted houses on select nights from Aug. 30 – Nov. 3, 2024.
