Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Hours

The party officially starts at 7 PM and runs till midnight, but Disney will start letting guests in at 4 PM. Now usually that just means you can get in early to check in, get your map and your trick or treat bag. It doesn’t guarantee any party exclusive stuff like meet and greets or the actual trick or treating. But I recommend the early entry anyway to get some rides out of the way if you’d like.

Can You Wear Costumes To Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?

Yes, you can wear costumes to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!

Kids ages 13 and under can wear costumes and masks as long as they have openings that allow the eyes to be fully seen and allow for unobstructed peripheral vision so they don’t bump into things.

And adults can wear costumes to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party too! Which is something guests 14 years and older can not do normally at Magic Kingdom. The only exceptions are the halloween and Christmas parties and some Star Wars costumes when visiting galaxy’s edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Here are the rules for guests ages 14 and up when it comes to costumes for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party:

  • The Costumes must be family-friendly.
  • You can’t have props or accessories that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon (but lightsabers are ok).
  • Your costume can not contain sharp or pointy objects that could accidentally hurt other guests.
  • Layered costumes or props are strongly discouraged, but if you do wear one be prepared to go through additional security screening.
  • Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground (for example, you can not wear a full-length Princess dress or a cloak that drags on the ground).
  • You can wear a cape as long as they don’t go below your waist.
  • The biggest difference between adults and kids costumes is that adults can NOT wear masks or any other accessory that covers your face.
  • And a big rule that disney has when you wear a costume that not everyone knows about: you can not pose for pictures with other guests that are not a part of your group while you’re in costume. If someone mistakes you for a cast member in costume, just let them know you don’t work for disney and say “I’m sorry but it’s against disney rules to take pictures with other guests while in costume. What they’re trying to prevent is you having a line of people wanting to take pictures with you, disrupting traffic, and people thinking you work for disney.

For the most up-to-date costume policies for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Walt Disney World in general, visit the Walt Disney World official costume guidelines page.

Trick-Or-Treating At Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Once the party does officially start, cast members will be handing out candy at 15 locations throughout the park.

You can get your trick-or-treat bag when you enter the first trick-or-treat station on Main Street, called Market Street Welcome, until 8 PM. If you miss that location or need another bag because yours filled up, you can get bags at any treat location.

The event is sponsored by Mars Wrigley, so the candy will be M&Ms, Skittles, Snickers, Life Savers, etc.

Rides And Attractions With Special Overlays During Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Certain rides during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will be different than normal, featuring special Halloween overlays.

Riding Space Mountain might be a bit scarier since they’re taking away all the stars so you’re riding in pitch-black darkness while listening to spooky tunes.

On the Mad Tea Party, special orange and purple lighting effects will provide a unique spooky ambience.

And at the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, the jokes will have a Halloween twist.

Note: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will feature a regular standby line during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party instead of the virtual queue system it uses during regular park hours. TRON Lightcycle / Run switched from using virtual queue to a normal standby queue during regular park hours as of September 9, 2024 and will continue to use a standby line during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

Character Meet And Greets At Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

You’ll be able to meet Mickey and Minnie in their brand new neon spiderweb party costumes — but not together. Mickey will be in town Hall near the front of the park and Minnie will be at Pete’s Silly Sideshow in the storybook circus area along with Donald, daisy and goofy.

Disney also announced we’re going to see a lot more villain characters around the park than in previous years! Some of the rare characters that have been spotted so far include: the Evil Queen from Snow White, Maleficent, Cruella, and even the Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion!

And for the first time ever we will get a Bruno meet and greet! You’ll find him with Mirabel Madrigal at their Casita in Fairytale Garden during the party — that’s the meet and greet area near the Cheshire Cafe and Cosmic Ray’s.

And fan favorites — Jack and Sally — from the Nightmare Before Christmas are still meeting with guests in the town hall which is the same place you go to meet Mickey.

There are so many more characters and disney doesn’t really give you the full list because they don’t want to promise something and then the characters not be there when you show up. A lot of these characters are only out for a certain amount of time, not the entire time of the party and they often switch with other characters in the same location when they go on a break.

The map you get when you enter the park shows you all the places they’ll be having character meet and greets but who will be there when you pass by at that exact moment is anyone’s guess.

Disney’s PhotoPass photographers will be taking photos of guests during character meet and greets.

Disney’s PhotoPass Magic Shots And Locations

You can also find Disney’s PhotoPass photographers at other locations, not just at character meet and greets.

They will be offering new Halloween Magic Shots at multiple locations throughout the park.

You must purchase Memory Maker in order to download the photos to your phone without a watermark. Memory Maker is not included in your Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ticket price.

In this story, Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy are spirited away to a mysterious haunted house where they encounter dancing skeletons, waltzing ghosts and a sinister gathering of Disney villains.

There will be projections on the castle, lasers, music and of course fireworks. The show will take place once each party night at 10 PM.
