Disney Changes Golf Cart, RV Rules for Fort Wilderness Campgrounds

Guests of the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds have long been allowed to bring their own golf carts to travel the expansive grounds.

There used to be no requirement to make them “street legal” with their own tags and insurance, but that’s changing.

Starting June 1, 2024, guests bringing their own golf carts must be prepared to present proof of limited liability insurance (minimum $100,000/$300,000) upon check-in and sign an agreement and waiver.

Disney also stated on their updated rules that third-party golf cart companies may not conduct business on Walt Disney World Resort property.

Guests are able to rent electric golf carts directly from Disney by calling (407) 824-2742 to make a reservation. Golf carts are also available to rent in person on a first come, first serve basis at the Outpost.

For guests looking to rent RV’s for a stay at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds, Disney is not allowing third-party RV rental companies to drop off the RV at a guest’s campsite, unless it is one of its “Disney Featured Provider.”

Disney just updated its Disney Featured Provider list to include the following companies:

Disney states, “When renting through one of these providers, you do not need to be present when the equipment is delivered to the Resort. The provider will work with our Cast Members to manage deliveries, set-up and returns of the rented RVs.”

Guests are also welcome to bring theur own RV, but they must be brought in by the guest whose name the reservation is under.
